Sunflower Memories Appeal
2012 Sunflower Memories Appeal
We are repeating this appeal for 2012 by inviting supporters to make a donation in memory of a loved one or a friend, whose name(s) will be written on a wooden sunflower and displayed in the hospice grounds for the month of April. Replies are requested by 30th March. Supporters may have the Sunflower to keep after the end of April. There will be a Service of Dedication and Rememberance on Saturday 28th April conducted by the Hospice Chaplain at 2.30pm in the grounds of St Raphael's to which all are welcome.
Sunflower Memories Appeal 2011
Our sincere thanks to everyone who has supported this year's appeal. There are nearly 1,000 memorial sunflowers sticks, each bearing the name of a loved one being remembered on display as part of the hospice's 2011 Sunflower Memories Appeal. The appeal has so far raised £30,000 for hospice funds and is remembering nearly 1,000 local people – nearly three times the amount raised from last year. The sunflowers are on public display at the front of the hospice during the month of April, which this year coincides with Easter.
At 2.30pm on Easter Saturday 23rd April, the Hospice Chaplain, Father David, will conduct a short service of dedication, commemorating all those who have been remembered through a sunflower. All are welcome to attend. The wooden sunflower sticks will stay on display until the end of April, and are available to the donors to be kept as a permanent momento of their loved one.
Sunflower Memories Appeal 2010
This appeal was first held in May 2010. Supporters were invited to make a donation in memory of a loved one, or a friend, who was remembered by their name being written on a tasteful wooden sunflower, which was displayed in the hospice gardens for the month of May.
At the end of the month, the Hospice Chaplain conducted a short service to commemorate all those remembered through this appeal and all those who supported the appeal had the option of having the sunflower with their loved ones name on to keep. In 2010, the appeal raised over £11,000 through almost 300 donations, so we are delighted that so many more people have supported us in 2011 (see above)
