St Raphael's Gift Aid on donated goods
From April 2008 we are introducing a new facility which will enable supporters who donate goods to our charity shops, to give them under the "Gift Aid" scheme. This will mean that when the goods are subsequently sold, the charity can reclaim an EXTRA 25% from HM Revenue at no extra cost to the donor.
An extra 25% on top of our sales will make a really HUGE difference to the hospice, so we are asking everyone who donates goods to our shops to become "Gift Aid" donors.
How does it work?
The only requirement is that you pay UK income tax.
But even if you don't have a salaried job, if you have a private pension or savings in a building society account, you will pay income tax on that income. As long as the amount of tax you have paid is as much, or more, than the value of the Gift Aid we will be reclaiming its OK.
The Gift Aid scheme is now being run in all our shops and for collections made by our shops van. Posters and forms are available.
Please gift aid any items you donate, as every time something you have donated gets sold, the hospice will receive an EXTRA 25% from the Government.
LATE NEWS: 2008 BUDGET CHANGE: The gift aid rate is 25%, but the Government will, for the next three years, be adding a further 3%, making a total of 28% extra to the charity, so its even more worthwhile.
