Epsom and St Helier is a progressive Trust that is CQC Good rated.  They have secured £500m as part of the government's Hospital Infrastructure Plan to enable them to build a brand new Specialist Emergency Care Hospital and finish the refurbishment of the existing buildings on the Epsom and St Helier hospital sites.  The new hospital buildings are planned to open in 2025.

SHH are an integrated health and care Trust, providing in partnership with local GPs, local mental health services, community providers and local authorities an ever-increasing range of community services and local hospices.  SHH are creating a Trust-held post based here at St Raphael's Hospice, with a clinical session working with the Trust Palliative Care Team at St Helier Hospital.

St Raphael's Hospice is entering a new, exciting phase, becoming an independent stand-alone charity, in the next few months.  We working to deliver a high quality patient focused service, within our resources and capacity.  We provide a range of specialist palliative care services to a population of just over 400,000.  Our staff of 135 (plus around 40 bank staff) is supporter by over 800 volunteers, based at the Hospice, our Fundraising office and our 11 retail sites around the borough.

We are recruiting to a 0.8WTE post (days to be agreed).  The post-holder will be supported by our team of specialty doctors, NTN Specialty Trainees (ST) in Palliative Medicine and GPVTS rotational post.  This expanded medical team will allow us to enhance our responsive and flexible service delivery.

This post comprises of 8 Programmed Activities (PAs) As, 6 of these are for Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and 2 Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) for Revalidation/CPD is 1.0WTE, on-call activity 2 nights per week 1:4 W/E per month + additional 2nd on-call (flexible) as required to support the service.  The post-holder will be based primarily here at the hospice and will undertake 1.0PA at St Helier Hospital (Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals NHS Trust) as part of their highly regarded palliative care team.  It is a requirement of your employment that you are prepared to work at any additional or different locations to support the demands of the service.

The post (including on-call) is in line with NHS Terms and Conditions*.  The post-holder will have a Trust-held contract, with line management by us and the Trust.
