On Saturday 14 May 2022, a group of our adventurous staff, including our very own Joint CEO, Gail Linehan, chose a unique way to celebrate this year’s International Nurses’ Day with a skydive across a picturesque Salisbury skyline. Gail, alongside her team of 12 nurses, staff and supporters marked the occasion by braving a tandem fall of 10,000 feet in aid of the Hospice.

Gail, a former nurse herself, had a career spanning 35 years before embarking on the role of Joint CEO at St Raphael’s.

“What a thrill to skydive for our Hospice alongside fellow nurses, colleagues and supporters. We gathered together in the most exciting circumstance to raise as much as possible for St Raphael’s. Nurses hold a vital role in our community and it was a great pleasure to give back on a personal level in celebration of Nurses’ Day. The views were simply breath-taking. Everyone should try it!”

St Raphael’s skydive raised an outstanding amount of £8,600. Gail adds that “this amount could pay for 28 home visits. Special fundraising moments like these help us continue to be there for families in Merton and Sutton, where 1 in 4 people need our expert services.”

If you would like to join us for the next Skydive, email Sam via [email protected] to grab a place. If you’re looking for another thrilling adventure, why not trek Snowdon at night on 6 August. Visit www.straphaels.org.uk/events to find out more or sign up for fundraising event of your choosing.
