The philosophy and values of St Raphael’s Hospice are based on the Christian Ethos of respect for human life, and esteem for the unique value of each individual. We share these values with all people of goodwill. The Hospice is a part of the charity The Daughters of the Cross, a world-wide Catholic Congregation of religious sisters.
We welcome, respect and support patients and staff of any or of no faith. We aim to meet the physical, emotional , spiritual and social needs both of patients, and their families and friends. Bereavement support is also offered to those who might find it helpful.
We value the contribution of each member of staff and hospice volunteer and offer training and education in the principles of specialist palliative care within both the Hospice and the local community. We similarly value the wider community, including those working abroad or elsewhere, and our commitment to preventing slavery and human trafficking in our activities is explained in our Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement (Click to view or download).
The hospice serves the local community in two London Boroughs - the London Borough of Sutton and the London Borough of Merton, which have a population of some 380,000 people.
