St Raphael’s is sad to announce that it has now closed its Hospice at Home service.

The Hospice at Home service was our non-specialist care service providing practical support to patients in the later stages of illness, and their carers from Health Care Assistants.

Like many hospices across the UK, we have had to make cuts to our services due to financial pressures being felt across the hospice sector. It has been an incredibly hard decision to disband the Hospice at Home team when we know how much it has been valued by people facing the end of their lives in our community of Merton and Sutton.

Becca Trower, Joint CEO and Clinical Director said: “It is a great sadness to us that we have been forced to reduce our services due to unsustainable financial pressures facing us, and the whole hospice sector.

“We know that our small Hospice at Home Team was greatly appreciated by patients and those close to them and we only wish that we did not have to make these cuts to important services for our local community.

“Our Community Team is continuing to provide expert clinical support and advice, and we urge anyone to get in touch if they require information or assistance.”
