Patient-Centric Complementary Therapy at St Raphael’s

As part of a holistic approach to treatment, we offer a variety of Complementary Therapies to our patients, those close to them and their carers, at no charge.

Living with a life-limiting illness can evoke a range of physical symptoms and emotional side effects. Complementary Therapy works alongside medical and nursing care to help ease the effects of life-limiting illness and improve quality of life. These therapies help with pain relief, muscle stiffness, breathlessness, anxiety, nausea, insomnia, fatigue and improving one’s energy, to name but a few.

Treatments are held in a tranquil, comfortable and non-clinical space at our Wellbeing Centre, located on the grounds of St Raphael’s and separate from the Hospice. A relaxing space to feel like yourself and guide your treatment, away from a medical setting. Individual consultations are provided at the start of each therapy, ensuring that all treatments are tailored to the individual’s current needs and health prescriptions. Our therapists are also able to visit our inpatients at their bedside, adapting treatments to preserve privacy and dignity.

Our supportive therapies are available to help you and your loved ones manage the effects of life-limiting illness and improve quality of life.
