Leave a gift in your Will

The Hospice was built 33 years ago to provide exceptional palliative and end of life care for the people of Sutton & Merton. By leaving a gift in your Will, you can help the Hospice to continue serving the community for generations to come.

Last year 1/6th of all our care was provided by the generosity of people who supported us by leaving a gift in their Will.

Every year:

  • We provide palliative care to over 1,000 patients
  • We make more than 8,000 telephone calls to patients and their families
  • We make 2,929 number of visits to patients in their own homes
  • It costs more than £6 million to provide all our services
  • 24% of that cost is covered by the NHS
  • Over £5 million needs to be raised from the generosity of the public

After you’ve taken care of your loved ones in your Will, why not think about including a gift to St Raphael's Hospice? There are three ways to do this:

  • Leaving a specific sum known as a pecuniary gift
  • Leaving a specific item like an asset or shares
  • Or bequeathing all or part of the residue of your estate

No matter how large or small your gift is, you will be directly contributing to the continued work of the Hospice for future generations and touching lives through the care and support we provide, allowing patients to spend their final days with dignity and in comfort.

Life Long Friends

Some of our supporters choose to let us know that they have left us a gift in their Will; these people are our “Lifelong Friends”.  This foreknowledge is helpful to us in many ways. Obviously, it allows us to plan for the future but, just as importantly, it allows us to say thank you and to work with them in directing their gift to the function, service or area of our organisation that is most important to them.

Get in touch with us below to find out more information or advice about the various options for leaving a gift in your Will.

Free Will-Writing Services

We are pleased to be working with The Goodwill Partnership to offer our supporters a free, home-based professional Will-writing service, where a legacy gift can be left to us, although there is no obligation to do so.

It's a simple and convenient process. Follow the link below to register and The Goodwill Partnership will contact you to arrange for a visit from a trained counsellor at a time and location of your choosing.

Appointments can be daytime or evening, 7 days a week. Once complete, the counsellor will pass the information to their panel of solicitors who formally draw up the Will. The home visit is free of charge. For a small annual administration fee The Goodwill Partnership provide free replacement and updated Wills as often as required.

The Goodwill Partnership is the largest provider of this type of service in England and Wales.

Amidst the first wave of the COVID-19 crisis we made 6 additional beds available to ease capacity for the NHS whilst continuing to support all patients, both in our in-patient unit and in their own homes, in challenging and rapidly changing circumstances. The challenge is financial as well as clinical. We expect that our income may drop by as much as £1.4m this financial year compared to last year. Please help by donating today, by making a regular donation or by joining our lottery. Thank you
