Join a local Fundraising Group

These volunteer fundraising groups play a vital part in the running of the Hospice and we quite simply couldn’t manage without them. They are very friendly and are always looking to welcome new members.

The groups meet regularly, from fortnightly to bi-monthly, depending on what suits them. Many meet over a nice cup of tea or glass of wine!

They organise all kinds of events, from quizzes to swing nights, auctions to craft fairs, and have lots of fun doing it. They manage the collection cans you see in the community, placing and emptying them in their local area as well as helping with Hospice fundraising activities too.

Fundraising groups are very much a part of our growing fundraising team. Members of these groups give as much or as little time as they are able and whatever time, help and support they can dedicate is greatly appreciated. The combined time they contributed last year equated to two full time members of staff, which is amazing. Our groups are overseen by our Community Fundraisers who are always on-hand to help.

Our Fundraising Groups generate around £35,000 every year and do an invaluable job of increasing awareness by promoting the Hospice through their activities. The funds they raise will continue helping us to provide ongoing specialist end of life care to those who need us.

Why should you join a Fundraising Group?

  • Get to know other people. Many of our members are now life-long friends having met through their local group.
  • Socialise with other members as well as hospice staff and volunteers at local group meetings, full group meetings and lunch clubs.
  • Receive regular updates from our Community Fundraising Team, an annual fundraising group newsletter as well as plenty of additional support and advice.
  • Give back to a vital local cause and raise awareness in your area.
  • Fundraise in memory of a loved one over a period of time.
  • Be part of something amazing supporting your local community.

Setting up a new Fundraising Group

You might be a family raising money in memory of a loved one with a big target in mind. You may want to set up a group in your local area or have a special interest that you want to share with like-minded people. Whatever your motivation, we would love to help you set up a new Fundraising Group to help raise funds and awareness of the Hospice. Your new group can be created to fit around what suits you.
