Say ‘yes’ to Gift Aid and we can increase the value of your donations.

Using Gift Aid means that for every £1 you give, St Raphael’s can claim, at no additional cost to you, an extra 25p from Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, helping your donation go further. This additional income really does make a big difference, so please don’t forget to Gift Aid donations if you are a UK tax payer.

To claim Gift Aid on your monetary donations we need:

  • Your full name and home address including postcode

  • A donation made in cash or from a personal bank or building society account (we are unable to claim Gift Aid on donations from company accounts)

To qualify for Gift Aid, you must pay an amount of UK income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that all the charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs that you donate to will reclaim on your donations in the appropriate tax year.  A tax year is 6 April one year to 5 April the next.

Don’t forget to let us know if your tax situation changes or if you change your name/address so that we can update our records.

To claim Gift Aid on your charity shop donations we need:

  • A completed gift aid form (available in our charity shops).

By signing up to Gift Aid for your donations, you will confirm that:

  • You wish St Raphael’s to act as your agent in selling the donations you have given with the proceeds going to our charity and agree to a commission (currently 1.5%) for this service. Any items not sold will be disposed of and cannot be returned.
  • You are happy to donate the proceeds without receiving a letter if the net proceeds are no more than £100 in a tax year.
  • You are a UK tax payer and you wish St Raphael's to reclaim the tax on all donations you have made in the last four years and any future donations you may make. (To qualify for Gift Aid, you must pay an amount of UK income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax that all the charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs that you donate to will reclaim on your donations in the appropriate tax year.  A tax year is 6 April one year to 5 April the next.)

We will give you a Gift Aid Donor Card with your unique Donor Number. If you bring your card with you every time you donate to our shops, we can make your donations go further.

If the total raised from your donations after deduction of commission and VAT exceeds £100 in any tax year St St Raphael’s will contact you to confirm the net proceeds. If St Raphael’s does not receive a written response from you within 21 calendar days of us sending you the Net Proceeds notification, we will assume that you consent to donate the Net Proceeds that exceed the £100 donation threshold to St Raphael’s.
