This new sharing agreement allows clinicians at St Raphael’s Hospice to view a patient’s GP record and vice versa.

‘This ensures we have access to vital clinical information in real time and helps us deliver the best care possible to the patients we serve’
Dr Jenny Strawson consultant in palliative medicine, clinical lead for the Hospice EMIS project.

Jenny adds:

‘Our patients’ complex needs are looked after by many different professionals in the inpatient and community setting, teams include our own specialist palliative care service, GPs, hospital specialists and dedicated community nursing and allied healthcare professionals. This new sharing agreement effectively allows us to ‘electronically talk to each other’, improving the speed and accuracy of information passed between services, avoids unnecessary repetition and allows us to spend more time delivering care to those who need us most.’

‘With greater access to patient information comes greater responsibility’
Dr Gaby Tamura-Rose, Lead consultant and Caldicott Guardian

All staff are trained regularly in confidentiality and data protection and we treat all patient information with the utmost care. While most people are happy to share their health records’ between healthcare professionals we understand that some are not. Please contact us if you wish to opt out of this sharing agreement by emailing us on [email protected].
