As part of the five-year investment programme and to ensure a long-term independent future, St Raphael’s are improving its charity shops. One of the first newly-refitted shops opened its doors in Banstead on Thursday, August 8^th.                                                  

Sara Jane Woods, Communications and Fundraising Director at St Raphael’s Hospice said: “The works undertaken will enable us to increase the stock on the shop floor by almost 100%. Meaning that our customers will have a greater choice, which in return will allow us to raise more money and care for more patients and their families in your community. The shop is Health & Safety compliant and now has step-free access for wheelchair users.” 

“We feel this is an investment worth making and we are happy to be able to offer a nicer, fresher working and shopping environment for our customers, staff and volunteers. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the new shopping experience!” 

The Hospice needs £6m a year to run, 75 % of which needs to be raised through donations, legacies and fundraising. lts charity shops play a major part in raising vital funds; all thanks to the public who donate and shop at 11 charity shops in and round Merton and Sutton.
