Our Donation Centre has moved across the road

We have relocated our Donation Centre to new premises, with our doors officially opening on Thursday, 20 July. Deputy Madam Mayor Councillor Louise Phelan cut the purple ribbon to the new site, in Windsor House, Sutton, conveniently located opposite our previous centre.

The Donation Centre acts as a hub for receiving donated goods which are then sorted and distributed for sale across the network of 11 charity shops in the area. It is also a sales outlet to shop from, specialising in furniture, homeware, toys and lifestyle goods.

All profits from these sales support the Hospice, which provides specialist palliative and end of life care free of charge to one in four people in Merton and Sutton. It costs £6.5m to run St Raphael’s each year and the NHS contributes just 25% of that total, so raising funds through their shops and donations is vital for the charity.

Sara Jane Woods, Commercial Director of St Raphael’s, said:
“It is incredibly exciting for the sustainability of our Hospice to be relocating our Donation Centre and opening our doors into a space that has been designed to make the process of dropping off donations simple and efficient.”

She explains: “We hope that by making it convenient to drop off bags of pre-loved goods, no matter the size, people will think of us the next time they’re having a clear-out. It’s also really easy to Gift Aid those donations or to sign up when you come to the Donation Centre, making them worth 25% more, at no extra cost to you. Turning pre-loved items into the care of our community is a true win for our planet and our patients.”

For the opening of the Donation Centre, the charity invites everyone to pop in, shop, donate and volunteer where they can. Sara Jane adds: “We would like to call on our community for their support and to help volunteer at the new centre. This all wouldn’t be possible without the support of our wonderful community.”

The Donation Centre will be open 7 days a week and can be found at Ground Floor, Windsor House, Sutton SM1 4AU.
