On Sunday, 12 December over 200 sprinting Santa’s dressed up in their festive finery to run, jog or stroll through Surrey’s leafy Nonsuch Park. Together you have raised £7,550 and counting! Distances of either 1.2km and 5km were completed by runners, with loved ones of all ages in hand.

Our Santa Dash returned this year after taking place virtually in 2020, bringing the local community together in celebration of the Christmas season. Each runner received a Santa outfit to race in, and as Santa would have it, a delicious mince pie at the finish line.

The winner of this year’s Santa Dash, Sam Hodgson, was thrilled to beat his second-place record from the previous year. Sam expressed: “It’s a fantastic event and a brilliant cause to support. My wife and mother-in-law are here today and I crossed the finish line with my son which made it even more special. It is a true family affair for us that we hope to continue with each year.” The winner completed the 5km race in 21 minutes and 20 seconds!

Our Head of Donor Development Emily Nicholls said: “We are delighted to be back in our Santa suits with our local community for St Raphael’s. After creating last year’s virtual Santa Dash due to the pandemic, we are very thankful to share this event in person this year. We are grateful to everyone for their support throughout, including our incredible team of volunteers who make these events possible.”

Thank you to everyone who took part and donated in support of the Hospice. We would also like to thank Nicky Patrick from Radio Jackie and all our volunteers from the marshals to the Sutton Volunteer Police Cadets. Thank you for making the day so special and we can not wait to see you next year!
