Rachael Conquest has conquered the Snowdon Trek at Night, Santa Dash fun run and is preparing for the upcoming London Marathon, all to raise funds for St Raphael’s!

I am passionate about fundraising for a charity that holds a sense of meaning. I was yet to realise how significant my connection to St Raphael’s was during my first fundraising event for the Hospice – having simply signed up with a friend whose mum had been supported by this special charity. It turns out that I was fundraising for St Raphael’s before I knew that further close family friends would soon be needing their support.

A year ago, I signed up to the Snowdon at Night Trek alongside my mum and our family friend. I was able to raise over £1,440 for the Hospice. This was the experience that kickstarted my fundraising for St Raphael’s.

During the course of the year, another life-long family friend of ours was also in the care of St Raphael’s. Since then, I have joined the charity’s Santa Dash fun run through Nonsuch Park, together with 10 of my friends from our local bootcamp!

This is a charity that not only holds a sense of meaning for me now but an importance for all of us within the community they serve – even for those that have yet to realise it.

As an exciting, personal challenge, I have signed up for the upcoming London Marathon in support of St Raphael’s. I have entered my ballot numerous times over the years and have finally secured my place in this year’s race. There is something special about participating in a challenge event that brings people together. It will feel even greater to cross the finish line in support of such a deserving charity that really needs the support. My mileage will certainly be for a worthy cause!

Keeping the doors open to the brilliant care offered for free to our community is crucial for everyone. Supporting the Hospice comes full circle…in the same way that I realised this in a blink of an eye, we never know when we, and our loved ones, will need St Raphael’s.

Stay tuned as we support Rachael Conquest in the upcoming London Marathon.
