On Friday 22 April 2022, 50 players from the local community gathered for a Golf Day at Pyrford Golf Club in Woking to raise important funds for the Hospice.

Each player paid an entrance fee and enjoyed breakfast, a round of golf and a delicious BBQ lunch. They also took part in exciting fundraising activities on the day, including a raffle and auction, as well as battling it out in “nearest the pin” and “longest drive” golf challenges.

Between them, they managed to raise an outstanding amount of £5,100 for the Hospice!

The auction items were generously donated by individuals and local businesses, including:

  • A meal at the Ivy with a chauffeur worth £150 donated by our good friend Andy Hussey at DCL Insurance
  • 2x VIP & 4x General Admission tickets for Happy Days Festival in Esher which were donated by Chris Holding.
  • Tickets & lunch for Sutton United's last home game donated by Martin Feltham.

Others raffle prizes included a golf watch, golf bag, golf balls amongst other prizes.

We would like to share a massive thank-you to our amazing volunteer, John Di Palma for bringing our community together in the spirit of fundraising and for organising such a successful day!

Fundraising Volunteer

"As a fundraising volunteer I get great pleasure from bringing people together for both fun and fundraising. Four members of my family have benefitted from the wonderful care that St Raphael’s provide in their final days. By being proactive in running these events it gives me a wonderful feeling of accomplishment knowing that the Hospice will gain much-needed funds. I also want to say it’s so rewarding personally and I do feel like a member of the “St Raphael’s wider family”.

If you would like to take part in our future golf days, please keep an eye out for the upcoming events. If you would like to get involved or enter your business, please contact our Corporate Fundraising Manager Julie Holland via [email protected]
