Furniture Collections

If you have large items of furniture or electrical items that you’d like to donate to St Raphael’s Hospice but you’re unable to drop them off at our Donation Centre, we can organise to pick them up from your house or office.

We offer a furniture or large item collection & delivery service

If you have large items of furniture or electrical items that you’d like to donate to St Raphael’s Hospice but you’re unable to drop them off at our Donation Centre, we can organise to pick them up from your house or office.

The service is free, but we will ask you about the furniture in advance to make sure it is something we can sell.

Items we can collect:

  • sofas, suites, armchairs
  • tables, chairs, occasional furniture
  • bookcases, cabinets
  • beds, bedroom furniture

All items must be in good condition, complete and in good working order. Upholstered items must have a fire label attached. To find out more about what we can and can’t accept, please click here

If you have an item you would like to donate, please follow the checklist below and email the following information to furniture@straphaels.org.uk:

Once you have completed these steps, one of our team will then be in touch and arrange a convenient time for collection.
Please note: there may be a 2-3 week wait for an available collection slot

If you are unable to attach photos, please let us know and we may be able to send a volunteer to view and photograph the items.

Please be aware that we may be unable to accept your donation upon inspectionIf we feel we are unable to sell the item we may have to turn it down as we are liable for the cost of disposal which can be hundreds of pounds.

What we need to take into consideration when we accept or refuse your item:

    • Safety tickets – Do any soft furnishings have the original fire safety tickets attached and readable?
    • Saleable quality – From our experience, is the item of saleable quality?
    • Similar items in stock – How many similar items do we already have? Our storage space is limited
    • Ease of access – Where the item is located and are we able to access and remove it safely? Are there stairs and pets at the property?
    • Manpower available – How many people are required to move it? Our service is predominantly operated with the help of volunteers
    • Collection times – When do we have a collection slot available?
    • Parking restrictions – Are there any parking restrictions at the property and can we park close to the collection point?
