Unique fundraising ideas

Take on a 24 hour challenge

We can give you lots of ideas as well as guidance on how to plan your 24 hour challenge.

Taking on a 24 hour challenge is a demanding but highly rewarding way to raise valuable funds for your local hospice.
Think about involving others with your challenge. Does this have to be a solo feat, or could others get involved too? You may find that people you know are willing to do your sponsored event with you. Alternatively, they could support in other ways, such as helping with publicity, sourcing raffle prizes, filming your efforts for a video, or writing a blog about what you’re doing.

Charity crafting

Put your creativity to good use and make, paint, stir, or sew for St Raphael’s Hospice by fundraising through homemade crafts

Whether it’s carefully crafted Christmas, Eid or Diwali gifts, delicious kitchen creations, or hand-painted kitchenware, selling homemade items is a fantastic way to raise money.

Producing handmade crafts is a challenge in itself, but the hard work doesn’t end there. You also need to turn your crafts into donations. You can choose to sell the crafts you make, or share your crafting skills by hosting a workshop to teach others how to make your chosen craft

Give something up for St Raphael’s Hospice

Take on the personal challenge of giving up something for a period of time to help support your local hospice.

These fundraising ideas are all about being a quitter. Why not give something up for a period of time?

Choose what you’re giving up

The first step is to choose what you’re going to give up and how long you’re giving it up for. Think about what would be the hardest habit or treat for you to give up – this will encourage your friends and family to support you, as they know how tough it will be for you to give up something you really enjoy! Some popular ideas include giving up chocolates or sweets, coffee from coffee shops, alcohol, social media or taking the bus home

Set up your fundraising page and share regular updates on your giving up challenge

Mark your milestones

When you reach each week or month without the thing you’ve given up, take a moment to celebrate the strength of your willpower and your fundraising achievements so far!

How to do a sponsored silence

Actions speak louder than words, so organise a sponsored silence to raise money and support your local hospice.

We all know actions speak louder than words. How about a bit of peace and quiet while raising money to support people living with a terminal illness?
Choose your style
Could you stay quiet for a few hours, a morning or even the whole day? A classic no-talking (or whispering-only) sponsored silence is a great idea to try as a class at school or in a youth club or take the challenge digital and go silent on all social media, so have a digital detox. Too easy? why not avoid social media altogether or go one further and avoid use of the internet altogether!

Don’t forget!

Create your fundraising page

Create your fundraising page – don’t let all your effort go to waste, create your online fundraising page early and share with your family and friends.

Tell people about your fundraising

Promote, promote, promote! Give supporters plenty of time to hear about your fundraising so that they can sponsor you, or even sign up to take part. Create and put up posters in your local area, tell people on your social media channels, and tell the local press if you can. The more people supporting the event, the more successful it will be, and the more money you’ll fundraise.
