Organise your own event

This is a brilliant way of fundraising and we guarantee you will have lots of fun at the same time. If you are new to organising events, don’t panic! We have some great resources to help you, and our friendly Community Fundraising Team will also be on hand to guide you through the journey.

The most important thing is to do something which you will enjoy, whether that’s a coffee morning, masked ball or football tournament. If you, your friends, family and colleagues think it sounds fun then it will be! You will get a lot of personal satisfaction from raising funds to support people at such a difficult time in their lives.

Top Tips

Do your research on other local events and see what else is out there. Try to avoid a date when a similar event is occurring on the same day.

Getting the word out is key to a successful event. So don’t be shy, tell everyone about the amazing thing you are doing to support St Raphael’s Hospice and why. Tell your story and you will be surprised how many people will get behind you. We can add your event to our website listing and share your posts on social media.

You will want to catch people’s eye with your advertising, so think about producing attention grabbing posters and leaflets. We can provide our logo and charity number for you to use.

A raffle is a failsafe way of increasing the funds raised at your event. Many businesses are happy to donate goods for charity raffles but often require an authorisation letter from the charity you are supporting. We are more than happy to provide one of these for you.

Registering your event with us

By letting us know what you have planned we can help to give your event extra publicity. We can also provide equipment such as balloons, banners, collection cans and buckets. If you require a representative at your event we may also be able to provide a staff member or volunteer to attend.

Fundraising Ideas

If you are unsure about the event you would like to organise, take a look at the fundraising ideas that we have put together to help you. Any amount that you raise, large or small, will help us to continue providing specialist care and emotional support to the local people of Sutton and Merton.

Please get in touch with us to tell us your plans and ideas. We can also arrange for a fundraising pack to be sent to you.

Amidst the first wave of the COVID-19 crisis we made 6 additional beds available to ease capacity for the NHS whilst continuing to support all patients, both in our in-patient unit and in their own homes, in challenging and rapidly changing circumstances. The challenge is financial as well as clinical. We expect that our income may drop by as much as £1.4m this financial year compared to last year. Please help by donating today, by making a regular donation or by joining our lottery. Thank you
